The hardest thing for Business Owners, CEO’s and Managers to achieve, is to motivate their teams to exceed their goals.  It is much easier to motivate yourself to exceed your goals, but trying to get other people to exceed their goals is one of the most difficult things to achieve.   So how do you get your team to be the best they can be?

Top 5 Things You Can Do to Motivate Your Team To Be The Best:

1. Find out what your team members financial goals are.

Once you know this, work with them on developing a game plan for them to exceed those goals. The game plan should have short term and long term objectives that they must meet. Provide the coaching and guidance that they need, but make sure they know that they own it.  Ownership is key.

2. Create a Scorecard.

Have each team member track key tasks that need to be accomplished on a daily basis in order for them to achieve their financial goals.  The Scorecard will have 5-10 key tasks and objectives that need to be accomplished on a daily basis. Consistency and Personal Accountability is key.

3. Whiteboards.

Each team member should have their own whiteboard that lists their goals and keeps a running total of how far away they are from their goals. When team members can see their activity and results, they tend to take more ownership and accountability.

4. Let your team members hold each other accountable for their goals. Managers should get out of the way.

It is critical to stay out of the way and be more of a coach vs a manager. If team members are falling short on their goals, they will tend to be more willing to take the advice of a manager who has stayed out of the way and acted more as a coach vs a numbers cruncher or bean counter type manager.

5. Managers should be transparent about their goals and share with their teams.

Managers who are transparent with their goals, will gain the trust of their team members and will increase their chances of exceeding their goals. It is critical for managers to explain to each team member how their goals contribute to the manager goals and the company overall goals.

Incorporate these 5 things with your teams and watch them exceed their goals.
